I have medium length hair, on the thicker side but not extremely thick. My hair now is slightly wavy, but it tends to fall really flat and some areas of hair won't curl at all. I was wondering if a body wave would work on my hair, just to give it all over waves/curls, just not super tight perm curls.
Any advice?
Question about a Body Wave?
Yes, it would work. There are various curler sizes a person can perm their hair with (a body wave is a perm with larger size curlers). I have the same issues with my hair. Its wavy and I can style it but with certain weather or wind conditions it collapses. I did a perm and the style is more consistent and its so much easier to take care of. What you need to be careful of is if the curlers are too large, it will look nice in the beginning and then after about 3 months, the perm will relax and you may not have much of the body wave left. If you take the medium size curler, you will have it curlier in the first 3 months but after that, your perm will be what you are looking for and will look nice for about 9-12 months.
Perms dry out your hair a bit so it would be a good idea to use a hair mask to condition your hair 1-2 times a week. Also, after perming, to control any frizzes, you can use a hair mouse to control it and some hair conditioning cream, preferably one that is for curly hair.

you might have to get a perm wrap. make sure you get the purple rollers so your curls will come out loser. the smaller the rollers. the tighter the curls will get.
